REGIONAL / COMMUNITY

During my tenure as professor, I have participated in community and regional institutions. Even though I haven't pursued these as regularly as I would have liked, I still consider it an important part of my service record. It is often difficult to find the time for smaller shows, these should not be overlooked as part of the overall responsibilities as an educator. However, one of the challenges of regional and local venues is that they aren't given as much weight in the professional dossier. Because of the location proximity, these shows usually require more pieces, requiring additional preparation, and more time consuming.

UNIVERSITY EXHIBITIONS

There is an implied expectation of professors to show biannually either at the Slocumb Galleries or Reece Museum, or one of our local galleries in downtown Johnson City. One must not overlook the importance of maintaining contact with community and peers, in regards to new work being produced. Students also expect their professors to demonstrate an active outreach, producing fresh work and keeping abreast of innovative concepts.
